BIOGRAPHY

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Louisa Whitesides will be joining the Ackerly McBride Group on October 22, 2025. Double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Whitesides brings her deep clinical expertise and a commitment to caring for adults of all ages with dignity, warmth, and grace.

In a time when navigating the healthcare system can feel daunting—especially in later stages of life—Dr. Whitesides offers something rare and invaluable: time, attention, and true partnership. She listens. She meets people where they are. And she walks alongside them, helping patients and their families make thoughtful, informed decisions through every life stage.

Dr. Whitesides earned her medical degree from Emory University and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to specialize in Geriatric Medicine through fellowship training at George Washington University, where she cultivated clinical depth in managing complex conditions including cognitive decline, polypharmacy, chronic illness, and the transitions of late life.

Most recently, she served as an Assistant Professor at GW, where she also directed the Internal Medicine Residency Program’s educational curriculum and ethics training. Her research spans health systems quality and informed consent in clinical trials—but her true passion is individualized, relationship-driven care.

A native Washingtonian and graduate of The Potomac School, she currently resides in Chevy Chase, MD, with her husband and three sons. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running and practicing yoga, and spending time with her parents who live just a short distance from her.

“Primary care is built on listening to the whole person, honoring what matters most in each stage of life, and building trust through continuity, clarity, and compassion.”
